My current researches

I find my self in the situation of a young Ph.D. student that has recently begun his researches in the biotechnology field. My domain of interest is the sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides L) and more specifically the subspecies "carpatica" that we can found it widely disseminated in our spontaneous flora.

The studies achieved until now have investigated only a limited number of samples from our country. Thus, I think that a more detailed study is necessary for understanding the origin of our subspecies, to find suitable selections that could lead to the creation of new cultivars.

After the exploration of our wild flora in search of sea buckthorn I intend to focus my effort in order to understand the sexual determinism of this species and perhaps to find a sex-linked marker that could be very useful in the breeding process.

I have planted also some seedlings in front of my office that could one day bear fruits.
