Irrigation is very important to the lettuce, because both insufficiency and excess of
irrigation water is harmful. The stabilization of an optical irrigation regime, with an irrigation
norm concordantly with the different stages of development, has benefit effects on the lettuce
crop. The damages caused by the pests and diseases being smaller in comparison with the
field lettuce culture, the yield being bigger, quantitative and qualitative, which will permit
important chariness, resulting a smaller production cost.
The experiments were made in bifactorial sequences, in the spring of year 2004 and
2005, placed in the vegetable field glasshouse, from USAMV Cluj-Napoca. The main purpose
was to study the watering regime influence on the yield level and the quality of lettuce.
We used two irrigation methods: drip irrigation and microsprinkler irrigation and three
irrigation levels were established for each irrigation method. From the combination of the two
irrigation method and the three times of watering resulted six experimental variants.
