Activities, domains of interest
I will try in the next few lines to describe my activities before and after I arrived at the USAMV-Cluj.
you can take a look at a part of my kitchen garden.
With my brothers we raised up a few wild animals, among which two baby wolfs (Canis lupus), three white storks (Ciconia ciconia), a wagtail (Motacila alba), an golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus) and four horns (Asio otus).
All these animals were left harbourless by their parents, and
we have tried to care for them in their places. In most cases we made it.
Another of my occupations was to set up a dendrological nursery plant. I did it with the help of my middle brother. The plants we cultivated were the thuja (Thuja occidentalis var. columnaris; var. smaragd), the juniper (Juniperus communis), the yew (Taxus baccata), Kerria japonica var. pleniflora, the box (Buxus sempervirens), the maple (Acer platanoides), the lavander (Lavandula Angustifolia).
The plants were cultivated in pots made of plastic film we made ouerselves. I also conceived a machine prototype to paste the plastic film to make the pots for ours plants. We have tried several prototypes until the machine has become fully functional.
These were some of my activities during the high school. After I came at the University I had to leave those activities in order to use all my time for the faculty. Once arrived in Cluj I missed allot all my former activities. It took me half a year to accommodate with the city life.
In the meanwhile I met a teacher called Avram Fitiu, at the Department of Ecology who has collaborating with the FNSEA and he suggested me to work with them. Thus I have became to work for the non professional organization AGROECOLOGIA and for the National Federation for the Organic Agriculture. My job was to write the weekly publications of these organizations. Two of the publications were for the Romanian people (EURONEWS and EURONEWS Eco), and the third for the French party (Roumanie Info).
The publications focused on agriculture. During this job I was had the occasion to learn very well the French language as one of my task was to process all the news we received from France, and to render them comprehensible (to translate them) for the Romanian public.
For at least 3 years from now on (2005-2008) I will be a PhD student at the Department of Biotechnology at the USAMV Cluj-Napoca, where my object of study is a very special plant, Hippophae rhamnoides L., a plant that is also the subject of my PhD thesis. My advisor is Prof. Dr. Doru Pamfil, to whom I would like to thank for giving me the possibility to bring my passion for horticulture at the PhD level.
