Horticulture has been my passion since I was little. My father transmitted to me his passion for plants and nature in general. At the same time, I started to learn the secrets of horticulture under the strict surveillance of my grandfather, who was very skilled and passionate about the field, in spite of lacking any formal horticultural training.

After graduating in 2001 the Forestry High School in Gurghiu, Mures county, I decided to join the Department of Horticulture at University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Cluj-Napoca. This has been my home ever since. Cluj-Napoca is renown as a wonderful student city (but not only), and the reputation of USAMV is well established in Romania and abroad.

At present, I am both a PhD student at the Department of Biotechnology and a secretary at the Focal Centre for biotechnologies of the Innovation Relay Centre of Transilvanya.

While having these responsabilities I'm honored to make also the practical courses for the Mobile Knowledge Course. I will try to do my best and I hope I will not disappoint my colleagues.

I was the beneficiary of a Socrates-Erasmus mobility grant for the period: 04/01/2006 - 09/01/2006, at the National Institute of Horticulture, France, Angers. This training was very useful to me, as I learned there the basis techniques for a molecular biology researcher (e.g RAPD, AFLP, ISSR and others). I am grateful to Mme. Mathilde Briard, who accepted to be my supervisor in France and for her kind and very useful support.

In the last period (May, June 2007) I have participated at two training courses for the CEQ8800 sequencer from BeckmanCoulter. The first one was in England with Jim Thorn (Ph.D), and the second at the Federal Research Center for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape, Austria, with dipl. ing. Michael Mengl.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me!
